Using Lead Weights to counteract Bouyancy

This is Uzair. I am trying to see if it is permitted to use lead based weights - coated in thick rubber or plastic - or is that against safety.

If it is allowed, what are the rules to allow its use?

If not, what are good alternatives that is simple to manufacture?

The choice for lead was to counteract a large abount of bouyancy - 25lbs without taking up as much room as other alternatives. The space for hull to accomadate electronics is the reason.

I noticed Blue Robotics sells lead based weights too so wonder If It could be used compared to bulkier alternatives.

Any information and suggestion is appreciated.

To be perfectly honest, I use lead based weights coated in thick rubber to hold down some of my tasks.  Since we can't get out hands on dwarf star (and I'm not sure that would be safer), lead is not against the rules, and I can understand wanting to use something very dense so that it wouldn't take up as much volume.

Even when covered with rubber, be sure to wash your hands very well after handling them.
